A Senior Mechanical Designer/Draftsperson is required for our manufacturing firm in Abbotsford. We specialize in products and material handling systems for the mining and civil industry worldwide. The successful candidate must have strong skills in aspects of design, drafting and fabrication utilizing AutoCAD. This individual will be self-motivated with the proven ability to prioritize, organize workloads and communicate effectively with both design and production groups. Engineering and project management skills are an asset. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. A Mechanical Engineering degree would be a definite asset.
Must have experience in the design and layout of material handling systems, including silos, hoppers, steel structures and enclosures, belt conveyors and feeders, screw conveyors, dust collection systems, pneumatic conveying systems, slurry pumping systems, etc.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Layout and design of various plants and equipment.
- Provide preliminary calculations, equipment sizing, etc.
- Coordinate and manage projects including scheduling and budget control.
- Provide limited supervision to others through motivation, direction, review and feedback of assigned tasks
- Liaise with shop staff during the fabrication phase of projects.
- Assist in writing maintenance manuals.
- Assist in estimating proposal projects.
- Supply detail fabrication drawings.
