Job Description
There is an immediate need for an Electrical Engineer / Programmer who
would be responsible for programming PLC's and graphical HMI touch
screen systems for the control of processing plants. In addition, the
applicant will be responsible for P&ID Drawings as well as SCADA
systems. Typically three to five projects/plants may be completed per
year. The applicant will be involved in developing control system
manuals, on-site commissioning, and assist with any necessary
troubleshooting after the plants become operational. Depending on the
applicant's previous experience, mentoring by an existing controls
engineer (P.Eng) will be provided to assist with programming standards
and equipment functionality.
Requirements/Qualifications
* Experience/Education - An undergraduate degree in either
mechanical or electrical engineering with a minimum 2 years experience
in PLC programming and control systems, including load-cell scales is
required. Must be able to demonstrate use of CAD software and PLC
programming efficiency. Experience with HTML and related web programming
is a bonus but not necessary.
* Aptitude - A good mechanical aptitude is important as the
applicant will be programming machinery. A sense of design and artistic
ability is also valuable as the applicant will be preparing graphic
touch-screen controls that need to be powerful but still remain simple
and intuitive to a plant operator.
* Communication Skills - Solid written and verbal communication
skills are mandatory as tech support/customer service via phone and the
internet will be required (often with people who are not technically
oriented).
* Interpersonal Skills - The applicant must have sound
interpersonal skills, be able to communicate clearly, and give simple
and easy to understand instructions in a friendly, professional manner
as they will be training operators.
* Travel Requirements - Out of town travel for approximately
8-12 weeks per year is expected for field work, commissioning of
equipment and operator training, typically broken up into multiple trips
of 1 to 2 weeks in duration, usually within North America, but can
include Mexico, Europe and Australia.
Remuneration
We offer competitive wages and benefits in accordance with the APEG
Compensation Survey.
