The Penn Forest Dam is one of the largest RCC dams in the United States. As part of the construction for the RCC replacement dam, foundation grouting was the specified treatment to mitigate water seepage in the rock foundation below the new RCC dam. The 2,400 foot long grout curtain was specified as 3 rows constructed with split spaced holes 200 feet deep. ACT was the Prequalified Specialty Grouting Subcontractor responsible for installation of the specified grout curtain.

ACT subsequently contracted Team Mixing Technologies to design and construct a grout mixing and pumping unit suitable for A.C.T. to perform the necessary upstage grouting at the project. The unit consisted of an air powered 10 cubic foot capacity high shear colloidal mixer, agitation tank and moyno progressive cavity pump, all custom mounted on a framed skid for ease of transport around the site.

Due to the success achieved with this unit, a second one was ordered a year later followed by a third complete unit for subsequent project work.
