As part of the 8.6 km Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension project, OHL-FCC-DIBCO North Tunnels Canada Inc. was awarded the northern portion of the contract involving construction of twin 4.5 km tunnels using two owner procured 6.12m diameter Lovat (now Caterpillar) EPB machines.
Team Mixing Technologies Inc. was awarded the contract to provide two Bi-Component (A/B type) grout plants as well as a single bentonite plant to feed both TBM’s. All plants were constructed inside 40’ HC shipping containers which were fully insulated and heated to combat the cold Canadian winter.
For each plant a blower was added to one of the silo rooftop bin vents. Piping connects the dust collection system to the colloidal mixer itself to ensure the workplace is kept dust free.
Daily batch logs from the plant are uploaded to Team’s secure server for retrieval by site personnel from any computer with internet access.
