The BWARI or Big Walnut Augmentation/ Rickenbacker Interceptor Sewer Project is being undertaken to increase the capacity of the existing wastewater collection system along the Big Walnut, Blacklick and Alum Creek basins in eastern Columbus and Franklin County, Ohio. The first phase of the project includes approximately 4 miles of 14 ft diameter tunnel using a Lovat Earth Pressure Balance (EPBM) tunnel boring machine.

Team Mixing Technologies was contracted to design and commission an automated batch plant to produce cementitious grout for back-grouting concrete segments plus a hydrated bentonite plant for soil conditioning and TBM lubrication, both constructed within insulated steel containers. Three storage silos supply bulk materials to the grout plant as well as bentonite to the bentonite plant.
