The Kittilä Mine, also known as Suurikuusikko mine, is one of the largest known gold deposits in Europe. The mine is located in the Lapland Province of Finland approximately 900 km north of Helsinki and 150 km north of the Arctic Circle.

The mine is composed of two open pits and an underground operation. Team Mixing was commissioned to design and supply a temporary slurry plant for CRF production until construction of the main pastefill plant is completed.

A readi-mix truck hauls a 6 m3 load of cement paste from the surface to the underground plant. After discharging into the CP12000 mixer the paste is diluted to a water:cement ratio suitable for pumping to the primary longhole stopes where the slurry is sprayed on waste rock.

The plant can be located up to 200m from the stopes being backfilled. A radio control system is supplied so truck operators can remotely call for a batch of slurry as needed.

The plant is fully CE certified and has a dual language (English/Finnish) HMI screen.
